Mary Toomer Lawson was the sister of Lucy Toomer.  She was two years old in 1858 at the time of the slave transaction between brothers Henry and John S. Toomer; owners of the Hog Crawl and Flat Creek Plantations.  She married Armstead Lawson in 1876 and their marriage is recorded in the Houston County Court House in Perry, Ga.  They were the parents of 10 children; five of whom survived infancy: Armstead Jr., Lucy, Mamie, Frank and Sarah. 

Their daughter Lucy  married Mitchell Taylor. They were the parents of William, Mary, Carrie, Ammie, Odessa, Josie, Janie and Louise.

Cousin Josie Taylor  married Henry Haliburton  in Houston County Georgia. After the birth of three sons: Henry Jr., Gabriel and James they moved North around 1946 after Gabriel fell into a 40 ft. well at the invitation of her cousin James Cecil Toomer. They lived briefly in Berlin and eventually settled in Albion, NJ where Henry managed  a respectable vegetable garden. Eventually two daughters: Diane and Vanessa were born.  Cousin Josie was a friendy talkative person who extended her hand to assist others.  She attended Emanuel Church of God in Christ in Lawnside, NJ. She loved her family and participated in the reunions and smorgasbords. Each of their children have become parents of their own and are in the process of raising their own families.
