The word blog
comes from weB LOG. A blog is simply a
web journal that is updated regularly by one person or a team of people.
The blog posts are kept in reverse chronological order, newest on the top.

Generally, a blog is on one subject, such as the Toomers. Floyd and
Shamele, Toomer bloggers, will add blog posts relating to Toomer
family history, reunions and other items of interest. We invite everyone
to feel free to add your comments to any posts.
Our goal is to facilitate greater communication between family members.
The Toomer Family Blog will enable us to quickly provide updates and
insight on reunion planning, family history research and general family
happenings.
Our Blog is more than a way to disseminate family information. We also want to collect your thoughts on items of general interest to the Toomer Family. In essence you can help us to create a family oral history.
Oral history in it's true for is a first hand account of an experience(s). Remember when you had a school project to do an interview asking the question, what were you doing the day the Martin Luther King or JFK was shot. You were collecting a first hand account. Remember when we created the Toomer Baby Boomer Birthday Calendar. Floyd called everyone to get their childhood memories. He was collecting an oral history, which we later called "When We Were Kids." This is what the blog will do, collect Toomer memories.
An example is a blog called "Big Aunt Ida Parsons." In this blog there is a wedding photo of Aunt Ida and Uncle Lewis. I give a little information about her and ask for your comments. At the bottom of this blog, as with every blog there is a comment link. If you click here you can add your comment.
Another way that you can get involved is to submit items for posts. Items include,

At the bottom of each blog post is a comments link. Go to the bottom of the post to view or make a comment. Click on the comments link to view or add a comments.

After you click on the comments link you will see the comments and a comment box. Type your comment into the box. Use the Preview button to view your comment before posting.

To view the post while making a comment, click on Show Original Post link.

Before publishing your comment you must choose an identity. This identity can be a Blogger login or you can remain anonymous. Create a blogger login by clicking on the Sign up here link. If you want, you can choose anonymous and enter your name at the end of the comment. (There may come a time when a login is required)

Click on Login and Publish or Publish You Comment.

Return to the ToomerFamily BLOG home page by clicking on the Toomer Family BLOG link.
The main page of the blog, (toomerfamily.blogspot.com) contains the last seven posts. To view additional post use the the links in the Previous Posts of Archives section. These sections are on the right-side navigation bar.

Each blog (or post) has it's own page. This page contains the blog, all of the comments and links. For instance, below is the address (URL) for the Toomer Awards blog. Click on the link in Previous Posts, the post title on the comments page, or link on the Toomer BLOG list page to view.
